What noambit is looking for:
With noambit’s increasing readership base we have decided to begin taking article contributions from those of you out there with info to share and a willingness to write it down. We will continue to publish informative articles that provide practical advice on traveling around Europe. Reading previously published articles on the site is the the best way to gage the voice and scope of what noambit is interested in.
Types of articles:
In general noambit is looking for informative articles that convey what a traveler needs or would like to know about a specific topic. An article should provide the reader with enough information to locate the subject matter, know how much it will cost them, what they can expect when they get there and some historical background if appropriate. Subjects would include, but are not limited to, accommodation, places to eat, sights to see and specific money saving tips. Think about the buttons at the top of www.noambit.com and if your story could fit into one of those categories you’re halfway there. Be practical and helpful as if you were giving advice to your good friends. Accuracy is very important and verifying what you write is key.
What we are not looking for:
While we don’t want to say "travel narratives" are a definite no, most do not fit into the style we are looking for. If your article is written in a narrative style, the chance of its publication increases when all the information listed above (how much, where, historical background…)is worked into the story. All in all, noambit is a guide for others to experience Europe and create their own stories.
What you get out of it:
At this point noambit does not pay for articles. This site is non-profit and even with the ad placement there is practically no revenue generated at this point. Of course, as all travel sites hope, we do plan to pay for original articles down the road but for now contributions will have to be made for two reasons.
1. You want to begin building a name for yourself as a travel writer with published titles to point to.
2. You love traveling around Europe and want to inspire and help others to do the same.
In regards to number 1; your article will include a by-line at the top and if you desire, a short bio at the end. This bio is a great way to support your own site or cause and tell readers who you are.
How we pick them:
Of course we can not publish every article sent in to us. Some will not fit the style and motivation of noambit and others may simply be on a topic already covered. If you are not sure feel free to send your article in and we’ll have a look at it. noambit.contributions [at] gmail.com We will make every effort to respond to you within the week.
Rights:
Since we are not paying yet we certainly wouldn’t dream of trying to claim any rights to your work. All rights remain with the author so you can do as you please with your article. If you do decide to submit us an article that was previously published with someone else, please be responsible and respectful to your first publisher. In general it is considered good etiquette to allow a minimum of 90 days to pass before having your work published a second time. Be sure your work is original to you and you do have control of the rights to any submitted piece. We may edit your work for style, length and flow but changes will be minimal or to be honest it will never make it to this point.
Format:
Sending us an e-mail which briefly describes your article (one or two sentences for organization purposes) with your attached article in Microsoft Word is the best way to contribute your work. Be sure that if any referenced or important links are not embedded in the text that they are written out either where they should be in the body of the work or listed at the end. At this time we are not interested in photos. Send your articles to :
